If you are looking for an opportunity to impact Hartford students interested in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM), look no further! In partnership with our longtime supporters, STARBASE-CT, we are seeking mentors to work with the 5th - 6th grade girls in the Engineering Club of Burr Elementary School!
The program will center around short term (often one day) engineering challenges designed to have students focus in on skills such as communication, planning, pattern recognition, etc.
Defined skills in STEM is not required. However, we do seek individuals who have a desire to spread the love of learning and learning through challenges. The end goal of this program is to work with the students to help them design and implement their own unique solutions.
What: Serve as a role model and mentor to middle school girls interested in STEM!
Where: Alfred E. Burr Elementary School (400 Wethersfield Ave Hartford,CT 06114)
When: Tuesdays; 4:15 - 5:30pm (available dates run from Oct 2015 - May 2016)
Requirements: Attend at least one session a month (attendance is flexible)
